Socrates' Tree
Thinking from first principles
Socrates' Tree is an online visioning and stakeholder consultation tool appropriate for a range of users including students, teachers, support staff, governors, parents and the local community. It presents users with a series of dilemmas relating to school ethos, organisation, management and design, in a format that is simple to use and easy to understand. It is designed to stimulate debate and gather information to inform a school's vision in advance of a re-build, re-design or re-organisation.
Socrates’ Tree results in a report capturing both quantitative and qualitative data. This shows clearly whether there is consensus or disagreement on a whole range of issues both between and within different stakeholder groups. The dilemmas format provides a clear structure for exploring contentious issues further. Socrates’ Tree is most beneficial when accompanied by facilitated stakeholder workshops based on the results, which provide a forum for further discussion.
Socrates’ Tree sets schools and authorities on the first steps of a journey that involves questioning all aspects of educational provision both today and into the future. |
