Curriculum Modeling
Outlining the spaces required for learning
Curriculum Modeling is a method of calculating the spatial requirement of an existing or proposed school in terms of area (m2) using the BB98 Guidelines as the standard. In the broadest of terms the inputs are what you would like to teach and to whom (i.e. the output from a Curriculum Analysis). The output is the number of staff required and the number and type of spaces along with their respective areas expressed in m2.
Assuming that a school’s current or proposed curriculum has been finalised, a senior consultant from Bryanston Square will visit the school to collect the necessary information from a member of staff, generally a member of the SLT. If this is problematic, due to pressures of time for instance, a simple questionnaire can be provided. We will then create a model (for one or several scenarios) and a report. Once the model is created it can then be modified to any number of potential scenarios as part of an option appraisal process (see Option Appraisal). |
