On 22 November, as part of their Unlock Programme, we ran the last in the series of three inspirational Immersion Days for St Michael’s Catholic College in Southwark. The day was packed full of visits to organisations both large and small. The students were wowed by Price Waterhouse Cooper’s state of the art building and enjoyed hearing from some of the Delivering the Deal team who shared their journeys and discussed the merits of a ‘positive mentor’. The corporate feel of PwC contrasted greatly with Innocent Smoothie’s head office, Fruit Towers. After we’d stocked up on free smoothies, Jojo showed us around their fun and creative working spaces and talked to us about the important role enjoyment and imagination plays in Innocent’s success.

Over a delicious lunch at The Greek Affair restaurant, owners Mariana and George told about the approach they’ve taken to their business over the last 30 years, explaining how crucial it is that you’re passionate and knowledgeable about what you do.

Finally, we met with staff from the Jubilee Line control centre in Neasden, they showed us how they monitor and control the network and discussed the variety of roles and opportunities that TfL offers. We were all excited when they offered to let us sit in the carriage with the driver for the journey back to Bermondsey.  A great, motivational day which ended in us all pretending to drive the Jubilee Line!
